Endless

“I see a light in the distance

And I know that I can’t reach it.

I see the sun breaking through the dawn

And I know I might not live to see another day

Without Your grace washing over me

The blood spilled on Calvary

I know You are always with me, oh

Your love is endless”

This is the fourth song off of my latest album, On My Face. I am so thankful for the individuals who tracked on this particular song: Alex Mattox, Andrew Clingan, and Caleb Howard. This song is left open and atmospheric to symbolize the depths of eternity.

I wrote this song to describe the amount of love that the Lord has for me and all of humanity. It is saddening to think that there are many parts of the world that have never heard the goodness of God’s love. Further more, they have never felt the love of the Father. Do we allow ourselves to be reminded of His love every day? And on top of that, do we return the love and affection every day?

It is one thing to have been told that God loves you; it is another thing to experience it. Jesus loves me this I know, but not because the Bible told me so! I know Jesus loves me because He speaks to me in the middle of the night and reminds me I am His.

"Insight is a byproduct of intellect; revelation is a byproduct of experience.”

-Damon Thompson

Do you know that Jesus loves you, or do you know that Jesus loves you?

"I see the flowers growing every day

But winter comes and steals the life away.

But I know it’s not about the petals

It’s about what lies beneath.

Your love is endless, oh

Your love is endless, oh”

Know therefore that the LORD your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations.

-Deuteronomy 7:9

Give thanks to the God of heaven, for his steadfast love endures forever.

-Psalm 136:26

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us… All the problems of heaven and earth, though they were to confront us together and at once, would be nothing compared with the overwhelming problem of God: That He is; what He is like; and what we as mortal beings must do about Him. The gospel can lift destroying burdens from the mind, give beauty for ashes, and the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness. But unless the weight of the burden is felt, the gospel can mean nothing to the man; and until he sees a vision of God high and lifted up, there will be no woe and no burden. Low views of God destroy the gospel and all who hold them.”

-A.W. Tozer (The Knowledge of the Holy)

Unless the weight of the burden is felt… Wow! May we be a people who feel what we say until others feel the gospel that we so religiously preach. If you do not feel the weight of your sin mixed in with the weight of His goodness, there is no way you can draw others to the repentance that they so desperately need.

We are called to love as He loves. Therefore, as He loves endlessly, then we are called to endlessly love others. How does that look? Every day remind yourself of His love through studying the Word, prayer, and worship. Do not rely on past experiences to flame present intellect of who God is in your life. Let Him show a new vision in your life. Dream the impossible. God is holy, holy, holy. I pray you find no better satisfaction than just to dwell in the goodness of who He is to you. It is that simple.

His love is endless.
